How to Run a Skin Locally (U18)

Using a Local Skin with FireFox 1.5++

The newer Firefox versions got more secure and so it is a bit
harder to get a Local Skin to work and here is how to do it:

1. Download a Skin from http://80.237.203.201/download/

2. Extract the Skin (e.g. to D:\ogame\Epicblue\)

3. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\YourUsername\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\somweirdcharacters.default
(e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\rhv52xnz.default)

4. Create a New File with Notepad (Right Click->New->Textdocument) and save it as user.js

5. Find out the URL of the oGame Server you are playing in:

One way of how to do it:

Go to the pillory thread on the board: Pillory
Right click on your universe's pillory link
Copy Link Address
Put it in an empty notepad window and remove the /game/pranger.php
For Universe 18 it would be: http://ogame392.de

6. Create a file called "user.js" file (Right Click->Edit) and copy this into it:

user_pref("capability.policy.policynames", "localfilelinks");
user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.sites", "http://serverURL.de");
user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.checkloaduri.enabled", "allAccess");

7. replace serverURL.de with the one that you have pasted in the notepad window (for Universe 18 it would be http://ogame392.de)

8. Save the user.js file and close all FireFox windows

9. Start FireFox again and log into your Universe

10. Go to options and change the path to the skin from

http://80.237.203.201/download/use/evolution/

to

file:///C:/path/to/skin/
(in the example from No.2 it would be: file:///D:/ogame/Epicblue/)

11. Save the options and click on overview - if the skin appears then it worked - congrats!
