A couple of questions...

How do you change the name of a colony?  My first colony only has 52 fields.  Should I develop it and then kill it when when I can move on to a bigger one or should I not spend the time developing it at all?

Do you guys ever get on Teamspeak or IRC or anything real time?

Ok, figured out how to rename a colony.  I just got my second colony and it only has 47 field.  ugh..

I will start my next colony in a different system so I can get one of the spots 4-6.

i personally delete all colonys smaller than my home planet, but if you keep it until you have a better one you can send all he res gathered off it to your main planet.

don't waste your time developing a small colony

there is a spacefed irc channel just type /join #spacfeds
i'm on it from time to time but there arn't a lot of members who are

Cool, thanks for the info.  So I will let them develop a bit and just get whatever mats off them I can.  I just sent a colony ship to a system that is completely undeveloped.  I am hoping to get the prime spots.

What luck, I have made 3 colonies so far and the largest so far has been only 52 fields.  I will keep trying.

I have read that guide and will read it again when I am ready to do some of the more advanced things.

I can't believe it.. I have made 8 colonies and largest has been 121 fields. The next biggest has been 74 fields. Most have been only 50 or so fields. I have build 3 colonies in slots 4-6 and maybe am just having a run of bad luck
going to develop my small colonies just enough to get transports delivering mats from them. I am still trying working towards larger colonies. I have build at 2-244, 2-245 and 5-257 with bad results. I saw that 4-408 was empty and I think 5-386 is open as well.. Any suggestions?

I have gone up almost 500 points since I joined about a week ago. I am currently at 4260. Should be over 5k with no problems by the time a month rolls by.

yay!! finally got some pretty good planets! I got a 164, 177 & a 250! w000t!

My home planet is a 163. I will keep plugging away.

All home planets r 163. When you r colonizing new planet tru always until you dont get over 200 fields. in 4,5,6 position.

What is the largest planet you can get? I just got one with 311 fields.

my largest is like 193 ... I have a 106 that is almsot full.

Cool, So far I have the following: 311, 250, 247, 214, 183, 177 & 164.

I am about to put the 164 colony on the chopping block so I can get one over 200.

Also, could you explain to me again why I only want 7 colonies instead of 8?
