What's your Ogame Playing Style?

Please vote the poll, and motivate your answers, I'm curious to see that's your gaming style...

(1) Miner: They tend to make a lot of colonies, possibly in the same solar system, raise mine levels and gather resources, occasionaly they trade or farm inactives

(2) Researcher: They tend to favour research over fleet, and defend themselves with the hi-tech gadgets or ships if needed

(3) Fleeter: They tend to have a big fleet, they do a lot of attacks per day and look forward to crash other's fleets

(4) Trader: They tend to like trading resources at convenient ratios, their fleet is mostly made up with cargos, they also farm inactives to increase revenues.

As for me, I voted "A combination of all of them" since I started as a Miner/Researcher but then I became a fleeter while not forgetting to develop mines and research (I'm ranked 12th in it) plus I discovered trading at good ratios speed up research, mines and fleet building. BTW try not to vote all of them if you did a bit of everything, we are interested into the 'prevalent' attitude towards the game.

idem for me...
i prefer to be first in all ...
only fleet without resarch is powerfull, but with the right resarch is really really better. And for support  fleet/reasarc need a lot of resources, that can be produced with a good mining's lvl...

Re: What's your Ogame Playing Style?

normally i'm a big fleet kind of guy.
in uni 3 i have 200k points and 700 bs as well as 200 cruisers and 5k light fighters
i don't really build bombers and destroyers because they are too slow. but i have about 30 of each. but whit out the techs to back it up they are no good. so i have wepon shield and armor all at lvl 12. wait actuall armor is 13.

up to this point i don't have much of a fleet in uni 8 about 40 bs the rest are mainly cargos (small they are fast) but my planets are set up to raid so i need a fleet to advance any further. up to now i was able to to do pretty well without raiding or even shipping resource between planets but mine costs are just to high.

Re: What's your Ogame Playing Style?

I'm a miner, but not exactly like the description you gave above. I don't have all my colonies together: I'm very well distributed all around the Universe, 3 groups of 3 colonies, so that they help each other, and are far enough to avoid being located easily.
All the colonies are quite big, the smallest is 141, so I would set Level 7 or 8 Shipyard in everyone, and make BattleShips when I consider I'm grown enough. And then I would change my Playing Style  :)

Re: What's your Ogame Playing Style?

Well i favour fleet over everything...im still new so havnt dedicated myself to one thing yet, I have 3 colonie's + main but two of them have like 30 fields  at moment im gathering all resource's for fleet the best ship i have is crusier and started research on combustion so i can get Recylcer's + Large Cargo and also upgrading weapon's and shield's for raiding  :)

Hey Dark Lord very nice signature, could u send me the full version of the logo modified by you with those colors? Maybe the PSD? Email : Mafia@clan-the.net

As for your style, one suggestion, blow the 30 fields colonies, or you will regret it later, no matter what's your style, raid like crazy and you should grow fast :)

Re: What's your Ogame Playing Style?

I don't know if you already know it, but there are bigger and smaller positions:
First: Positions 4, 5 and 6. There you can get from 150 to 300. It's posible that you get a 60 fields one, but just leave it, and try again.
Second: 7, 8 and 9. They can be big, but don't expect very large ones
Third: 13, 14 and 15. It depends on your luck. Medium ones.
Last: 1, 2, 3, 10, 11 and 12. The smallest: 20 - 30 to 60 fields.

My colonies are:
Position 13:175, Position4:258, Position 5:247, Position4:141, Position5:158, Position4:235, Position4:183 and Position 15:200 (and the main planet with 163).
I had to try 3 or 4 times to get a 15 Position so big, but I think it'll worth.

Don't think I'm just lucky. I left every small colony I got, and try again.[/b]

Yes I know about positions, but statistics aren't all, those you mentioned are most probable locations, but you can get any number of fields theoretically in every location, for instance I got a 201 fields in position :14 , more than a 'Medium' thing :)

Re: What's your Ogame Playing Style?

here is whats up

planetsize:
pos1: average: 64, 60% between 48 and 80 fields

pos2: average: 68, 60% between 53 and 83 fields

pos3: average: 73, 60% between 54 and 82 fields

pos4: average: 173, 60% between 108 and 238 fields

pos5: average: 167, 60% between 95 and 239 fields

pos6: average: 155, 60% between 82 and 228 fields

pos7: average: 144, 60% between 116 and 173 fields

pos8: average: 150, 60% between 123 and 177 fields

pos9: average: 159, 60% between 129 and 188 fields

pos10: average: 101, 60% between 79 and 122 fields

pos11: average: 98, 60% between 81 and 116 fields

pos12: average: 105, 60% between 85 and 129 fields

pos13: average: 110, 60% between 60 and 160 fields

pos14: average: 84, 60% between 42 and 126 fields

pos15: average: 101, 60% between 54 and 149 fields

keep in mind this is the average size and that any size is possible in any position.

given that most of you colonies should be in 4,5 or 6. however as you move farther from the sun you deuterium perduction per hour per lvl increases so a couple (1 or 2) deuterium colonies in a 11 or 12 slot are a good idea. but never keep a colony that is under 150 fields. blow it up right a way. you will lose points if you try to develope it.

Re: What's your Ogame Playing Style?

I think you have to choose between the position in a Solar System, and the Solar System at all. I mean that I could be great having all colonies in position 4, with more than 200 fields, but if they are so far from the other players, you won't be able to attack them, nor even transport between your own colonies - fast enough -

So maybe you want to go to a Solar System with lots of inactive people, or with lots of undefensed people, or whatever... In that cases, you may have to make a colony in position one, attack from there, and, if a position 4 comes free, colonize it. Or just leave you colony when you get all you were looking for. I think that having a colony every 250 Solar Systems is the best way to attack fast. You'll have to choose which Galaxy is the best for you, but besides it...
By the way, I'm on Galaxy 2, 4 and 5.

Personally, if I could choose I'd make my colonies all in :15, :14, :13, :12 , you gotta be patient with colony ships but as soon as you get 200+ fields the extra deuterium u produce will give you an advantage.

Well if you gotta choose between the deuterium bonus and the solar sats boosts for the same risk of getting a small colony, I'd surely take the deuterium thing, well unless I'd be going for graviton.

Re: What's your Ogame Playing Style?

a ot of people set up a colony in a slot one position out in galaxy 7 8 or 9
personally i'd rather do it in a position four slot in galaxy 1 or 2.
the way i'm working towards it in uni 3 is nanite lvl 4 on my biggest colony (position 4) plus 10k sl 1k ion 250 gauss and 100 plasma then i'll save up the 13 mil crystal and 8 mil deuterium i'll need for the 8k sats and with shipyard lvl 12 and nanite lvl 4 it will take 2 days to make 8k sats. so it will all be over before anyone knew it started.
then if some one does crash my sats i won't get a moon out in the middle of nowhere on a colony with 30 fields. but some where i can use it.

probally do the same when i get that far in this uni.

i span five galaxies, which is pretty cool for attacking, and they are near other people i know if i need to trade. i think im a miner kinda, but i dont just farm inactives, ill attack anyone with a small defense and lots of res. :)
